Ars Magna Nominated For An Emmy!

We are thrilled to announce that Ars Magna, a Doc Challenge film from 2008, was nominated for an Emmy Award in the "New Approaches to News and Documentary Programming Category." It's hard to believe that a short doc made in only 5 days has achieved this level of success! Congratulations to Director Cory Kelley, Producer Sean Roach and all of Team Juicebox from Seattle. Thanks to POV for their support of the Doc Challenge and their help in making this happen.
 
Special Event: The Israeli Doc Challenge

A special regional Doc Challenge happened in Israel this past May. The "Israeli Doc Challenge" was developed out of a partnership between Ari Davidovich of Hypermedia and KDHX Community Media (the creators and producers of the International Documentary Challenge.) Fifteen Israeli filmmakers were selected to participate and the winning films premiered at Docaviv - The Tel Aviv International Documentary Film Festival. The films were focused on the Centennial Anniversary of the city and over 800 people turned out for the premiere! Watch the winning films in our screening room.
 
2009 Audience Award Winner

The audience has spoken! The 2009 International Documentary Challenge Audience Award (determined by online voting) goes to A Healing Art by Team Fly On The Wall from Seattle, Washington, USA. Directed by Ellen Frick, A Healing Art delves into the world of artificial eye makers as they rekindle hope for victims of tragedy. Congratulations to Team Fly On The Wall!
 
2009 Doc Challenge Jury Winners Announced

During March 5th-9th, 2009, 142 filmmakers from 15 countries made short non-fiction films with the assigned theme of "Hope and/or Fear." The 13 finalists premiered at the Hot Docs Canadian International Documentary Festival on May 9th where the Jury Winners were announced, including the P.O.V. Award, the DER Award, and Best Film. This DVD features 17 award-winning films from the first three years of the Doc Challenge, including the Emmy Award nominated Ars Magna.
